HOME IMPROVEMENTS
[03/05/09] On February 17, President
Obama signed into law the American
Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
Included are tax credits for energy
efficient windows and doors for
home
improvements. Highlights include:
- Tax credits previously effective
for 2009 have been extended to 2010
- The tax credit has been raised
from 10% to 30%
- The maximum credit has been
raised from $500 to $1500 for
combined improvements to one
existing, primary residence during
the years 2009-2010
- The $200 cap on windows has been
removed
- Homeowners are required to
maintain their own records that
windows meet the qualification
requirements. These records are to
include receipts and the
Manufacturer Certification
Statement. Kolbe's Manufacturer
Certification Statement is the
back of the blue Kolbe window label
that shows the U- value and SHGC.

To qualify for tax credit, ENERGY STAR®
labeled windows and doors must have a
U-Factor and SHGC
(Solar Heat Gain Coefficient) of 0.30 or
less.*

Credit Certification Statements
The following manufacturer's
certification statements provides the
documentation needed to receive an
energy tax credit for qualifying ProVia
Door products as defined by the American
Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
In the prospect of an audit, the
manufacturer's certification document ,
in conjunction with your receipt , will
serve as proof to the IRS that the
product you purchased qualified for the
energy tax credit.
